M. I. A. Ibrahim 2002 | Stellatopollis dejaxii sp. nov. is distinguished from other species of the genus by its circular contour, dense (closely spaced) globular, elliptical and rarely triangular projections. Dejax (1987) illustrated one specimen (Stellatopollis sp. cf. S. araripensis/densiornatus) from the upper Barremian of Congo, with size range 35–60 μm. Stellatopollis araripensis (Lima 1976) Ward 1986, and S. densiornatus (Lima 1976) Ward 1986, are differentiated from S. dejaxii sp. nov., by their oval contour and
smaller projections. In addition, S. araripensis is characterized by having a large, oval sulcus and triangular projections. |
