Perla resinata was named by Hagen (1856). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Berendt collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.
It was recombined as Perlodes resinatus by Sinitshenkova (1987).
