Taxonomy
Mesotaeniopteryx sinitsae was named by Sinitshenkova (1987). Its type specimen is PIN 3791/1227, a forewing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bakhar outcrop 275/1 (PIN collection 3791), which is in a Bajocian/Bathonian lacustrine claystone in the Bakhar Formation of Mongolia.
