Taxonomy
Melolonthites collinsi was named by Wickham (1929). Its type specimen is USNM 80475, an elytra, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Holcomb Property, Henry County, which is in a Bartonian pond claystone in the Cockfield Formation of Tennessee.
