Taxonomy
Chimeromyia pilitibia was named by Grimaldi and Cumming (2009). Its type specimen is MNHN Azar 230, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Lebanese amber, Mdeyrij-Hammana (LU collection), which is in a Barremian terrestrial amber in Lebanon.
