Taxonomy
Forficula paleocaenica was named by Willmann (1990). Its type specimen is FM 178, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Knudegrav, Fur, which is in a Ypresian offshore ramp claystone in the Ølst Formation of Denmark.
