Taxonomy
Miotroctes rousei was named by Pierce (1960). Its type specimen is LACMIP 3633, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Site 10 (LACMIP 357), Calico Hills, which is in a Hemingfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Barstow Formation of California.
