Amphechinus minimus was named by Bohlin (1942).

Synonyms

Amphechinus microdus was named by Lopatin (1999). It is not extant. Its type specimen is PIN 4516/7, a mandible (sin. with m1 (fragm.), m2-m3). Its type locality is Altynshokysu (bone bed IV), which is in an Oligocene terrestrial claystone in the Aral Formation of Kazakhstan.

It was synonymized subjectively with Amphechinus minimus by Bendukidze et al. (2009).
