Heleomyza bankhornia was named by Meunier (1914). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Rott (Bauckhorn coll), which is in a MP 30 lacustrine - large lignite in Germany.
It was recombined as Leria bauckhorni by Statz (1940); it was corrected as Heleomyza bauckhorni by Meunier (1915) and Evenhuis (1994).
