Taxonomy
Lepidotrix piliferum was named by Menge (1854). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Danziger Naturkundemuseum Menge collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.

It was replaced with Lepisma lepidothrix by von Olfers (1907); it was misspelled as Lepidothrix pilifera by Silvestri (1912); it was corrected as Lepidotrix pilifera by Kaplin (2018).
