Taxonomy

Holcorobeus was named by Nikritin (1977). Its type is Holcorobeus vittatus.

It was assigned to Scarabaeidae by Nikritin (1977) and Carpenter (1992); to Holcorobeini by Nikolajev (1992), Krell (2000), Nikolajev (2004) and Nikolajev (2007); and to Scarabaeoidea by Neita-Moreno et al. (2019).
