Taxonomy
Cretaraneus martinsnetoi was named by Mesquita (1996). Its type specimen is UnG/1T-50, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Crato, Tatajuba farm, Araripe Basin, which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large limestone in the Crato Formation of Brazil.
