Taxonomy
Britopygus weygoldti was named by Dunlop and Martill (2002). Its type specimen is SMNS 64332, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Crato (SMNS collection), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large carbonate in the Crato Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Britopygus.
