Taxonomy
Forficula kotejai was named by Wappler et al. (2005). Its type specimen is NHMM PE 2000/1061-LS, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Eckfeld Maar (NHMN 2000 collection), which is in a MP 13 crater lake siltstone/shale in the Eifel Formation of Germany.
