Praenucula applanans

Taxonomy
Nucula applanans was named by Barrande (1881). Its type specimen is NM L 27163 (Internal mould of the shell with conjoined valves) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Osek, which is in a Sarka offshore shale in the Sarka Formation of Czechia.

It was recombined as Ctenodonta applanans by Pfab (1934); it was recombined as Praenucula applanans by Polechová (2013).

Synonyms
  • Praenucula sharpei was named by Babin and Gutiérrez-Marco (1991) [= 1984b Deceptrix n. sp. Martin in Gutierrez-Marco et al., p. 302.]. Its type specimen is RA-I 2148jOR., a shell (Internal mould of a right valve showing the dentition), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cacemia beds, Navalpino, which is in an Oretanian transition zone/lower shoreface shale in the Navatrasierra Shale Formation of Spain.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Praenucula applanans by Polechová (2013).
