Taxonomy
Bellerophon (Bellerophon) needlensis was named by Gordon and Yochelson (1987). Its type specimen is USNM 210930, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 15160-PC. North end of Needle Range. T ½ sec. 27, T.25 S., R.19 W., which is in an Arnsbergian marine shale in the Chainman Shale Formation of Nevada.
