Taxonomy
Rhaphidophorinae was named by Kirby (1906). It is extant.

It was reranked as the family Rhaphidophoridae by Gorochov (1995), Gorochov (2010), Storozhenko et al. (2015) and Song et al. (2015); it was reranked as the family Raphidophoridae by Martins-Neto (1995) and Song et al. (2020).

It was assigned to Gryllacrididae by Zeuner (1939); to Gryllacridoidea by Martins-Neto (1995); to Stenopelmatoidea by Gorochov (1995) and Gorochov (2010); and to Rhaphidophoroidea by Storozhenko et al. (2015), Song et al. (2015) and Song et al. (2020).
