Taxonomy
Mesotricupes reticulatus was named by Hong (1982). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Sample II8P14L5, Shenjiawan, Changma, Yumen City, which is in an Aptian lacustrine mudstone in the Xiagou Formation of China.
