Taxonomy
Tropidia tumulata was named by Lewis (1973). Its type specimen is St. Cloud State University B10, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Ruby River, between Peterson and Morman Creeks, which is in a Whitneyan lacustrine shale in the Renova Formation of Montana.
