Taxonomy
Protobrachyceron zessini was named by Krzemiński and Ansorge (2000). Its type specimen is MfN LDA 32, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Ansorge coll), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.
