Taxonomy
Palaeomantis macroptera was named by Bolton (1916). It is an impression. Its type locality is Ravenhead Railway cutting near St. Helens, which is in a Westphalian A interdistributary bay mudstone in the Lancashire middle Coal Measure Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Paraboltonia macroptera by Handlirsch (1922).
