Taxonomy
Cymenophlebidae was named by Pruvost (1919). Its type is Cymenophlebia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Epideigmatidae by Carpenter (1992); it was considered an invalid subgroup of Archaeorthoptera by Béthoux (2007); it was corrected as Cymenophlebiidae by Handlirsch (1922), Aristov (2014) and Aristov (2016).

It was assigned to Archimantides by Pruvost (1919); to Protoblattoidea by Handlirsch (1922); to Cnemidolestida by Aristov (2014); and to Cnemidolestina by Aristov (2016).
