It was recombined as Tapes staleyi by Gabb (1869); it was recombined as Chione staleyi by Dall (1909); it was recombined as Paphia stayleyi by Arnold and Hannibal (1913); it was recombined as Paphia (Protothaca) staleyi by Howe (1922); it was recombined as Venerupis (Protothaca) staleyi by Stewart (1930), Weaver (1942); it was synonymized subjectively with Venerupis (Protothaca) staminea by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Protothaca staleyi by Woodring and Bramlette (1950), Addicott (1969); it was recombined as Securella staleyi by Faustman (1964); it was recombined as Leukoma staleyi by Hendy (2020).
