Taxonomy
Forficula herculeana was named by Fabricius (1798) [Has not been found live since 1967, so is probably extinct, but is still classified as "critically endangered" (CR) by IUCN.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Labidura herculeana by Deem (2012).

Synonyms
  • Labidura loveridgei was named by Zeuner (1962). Its type specimen is BMNH In.59871, an exoskeleton (a pair of male cerci and three fragments of the tenth tergite), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Prosperous Bay (BOU collection), which is in a Holocene terrestrial sandstone in Saint Helena.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Labidura herculeana by Deem (2012).
