Taxonomy
Neoretzia was named by Dagys (1963) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 2,434,1271]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Neoretziidae, Neoretziinae.

It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Neoretziinae by Williams et al. (2002).
