Taxonomy
Nedoptychoptera karatavica was named by Lukashevich (1998). Its type specimen is PIN 2784/261, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2784), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan. It is the type species of Nedoptychoptera.
