Taxonomy
Eoptychoptera jurassica was named by Ren and Krzemiński (2002). Its type specimen is CNU BCD 2006, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (CNU collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
