Etoblattina ovata was named by Meunier (1921). It is an impression. Its type locality is Cassville, which is in an Asselian terrestrial shale in the Cassville Shales Formation of West Virginia.
It was recombined as Compsoblatta ovata by Schneider (1983), Schneider (1983), Brauckmann (1993).
