Taxonomy

Scirtes was named by Illiger (1807). It is extant. It is the type genus of Scirtesidae, Scirtinae.

It was assigned to Scirtesidae by Solórzano Kraemer (2007); and to Scirtinae by Klausnitzer (2009), Bouchard et al. (2011).

Synonyms

Eohelodites was named by Hong (2002).

It was synonymized subjectively with Scirtes by Kirejtshuk and Nel (2013); it was considered a nomen nudum by Hong (2002), Hong (2002), Kirejtshuk and Ponomarenko (2019).
Eohelodites orbiculatus was named by Hong (2002). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Xilutian coal mine, Fushun amber (post-1980 collection), which is in a Ypresian terrestrial amber in China.

It was considered a nomen nudum by Hong (2002), Hong (2002), Kirejtshuk and Nel (2013), Kirejtshuk and Ponomarenko (2019).
