Taxonomy
Sinogomphus taushanense was named by Hong (1982). Its type specimen is K107/Jt1001, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Taoshan, Naiman, which is in a Barremian lacustrine - large mudstone in China. It is the type species of Huaxiagomphus, Sinogomphus.
It was corrected as Sinogomphus taushanensis by Hong (1984); it was recombined as Huaxiagomphus taushanensis by Hong (1988); it was misspelled as Huaxiagomphus toushanensis by Nel and Paicheler (1994).
