Taxonomy
Architipula austeni was named by Jarzembowski (1991). Its type specimen is BMB 014901,-2, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Clockhouse Brickworks (BMB collection), which is in a Hauterivian lagoonal sandstone in the Weald Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Tipunia austeni by Lukashevich (2009).
