Taxonomy

Nothocyon geismarianus mollis was named by Merriam (1906). Its type specimen is UCMP 90, a partial skull (skull with I3 broken–C, P1 broken, and P2–M2), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Leptocyon mollis by Merriam (1906), Wang et al. (2008), Tedford et al. (2009).
