Carabus quenseli was named by Schönherr (1806). It is extant.

It was recombined as Amara quenseli by Coope et al. (1961), Böcher (1995); it was recombined as Amara (Celia) quenseli by Kiselev and Nazarov (2009); it was recombined as Amara (Paracelia) quenseli by Bousquet (2012), Radawiec et al. (2015).
