Taxonomy
Cretophotina santanensis was named by Lee (2014). Its type specimen is SMNS 67583, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Crato (SMNS collection), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large carbonate in the Crato Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Cretophotina.
