Taxonomy
Acidaspis bispinosus was named by McCoy (1846). It is the type species of Whittingtonia.
It was recombined as Ceratocephala bispinosa by Clarke (1892); it was corrected as Acidaspis bispinosa by Warburg (1925); it was recombined as Onychaspis bispinosus by Reed (1925); it was recombined as Whittingtonia bispinosa by Prantl and Pribyl (1949) and Bruton (1966).
