It was reranked as the subfamily Catotrichinae by Jaschhof and Jaschhof (2008), Gagné and Jaschhof (2014).

It was assigned to Lestremiinae by Kovalev (1990); and to Cecidomyiidae by Jaschhof and Jaschhof (2008), Gagné and Jaschhof (2014).
