Taxonomy
Tropeothyris was named by Smirnova (1972) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith K Ceno-l Sepkoski's reference number: 776,1096]. It is not extant. Its type is Tropeothyris kugusemi.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rectithyridinae by Williams et al. (2006).
