Taxonomy
Montsecanomalus (Montsecanomalus) sorianoi was named by Legalov (2009). Its type specimen is IEI LC-3005, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil.

It was recombined as Montsecanomalus sorianoi by Legalov (2012).
