Heteroschisma was named by Wachsmuth (1883) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife-l D Give Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Codasteridae by Fay and Wanner (1967); to Phaenoschismatidae by Macurda (1983); and to Fissiculata by Sepkoski (2002).
