Taxonomy
Illaenus depressicapitatus was named by Bradley (1930). Its type specimen is UC 28895, a cephalon/head (exfoliated cranidia), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Thaleops depressicapitata by Amati and Westrop (2004).

Muscle scar attachment sites well defined on internal moulds as two longitudinal ridges along the lateral margins of the glabella with a shallow depression between. Relict segmentation present on ventral surface of pygidial axis. Anterior margin of pygidial doublure with second, smaller pair of forward projections between larger pair of forward projections on either side of axis. |
