Taxonomy
Anomia vitrea was named by Born (1778). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Gryphus.

It was recombined as Terebratula vitrea by Born (1778); it was recombined as Gryphus vitreus by Cooper (1979) and Cooper (1983); it was recombined as Gryphus vitrea by Bitner and Martinell (2001).
