Laurophyllum brochidodromum was named by Hill (1986) [Number of specimens: Two.
Parataxon NER/017 Hill 1982, p. 66, pl. 6 fig. 39.]. Its type specimen is Holotype: N-0036, housed in the Botany Department, University of Tasmania., a leaf (Cuticles), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Nerriga Flora, which is in an Eocene/Eocene fluvial-lacustrine siltstone/mudstone in Australia.
