Taxonomy
Caulophilus ruidipunctus was named by Poinar and Legalov (2014). Its type specimen is Poinar PACO 8, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Poinar coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
