Microcara znojkoi was named by Yablokov-Khnzorian (1960). Its type specimen is PIN 364/285, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber (PIN collection 364), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Lithuania.
