Fagophyllum duseni was named by Berry (1937). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type locality is Cerro Funes, which is in a Paleocene terrestrial claystone in Argentina.

E. W. Berry 1937 | Leaves of relatives small size, ovate in outline, with acute tip and rather narrowly cuneate base. Marginal teeth mostly large except toward base and tip, aquiline-dentate, one for each secondary. Petiole stout, 5 or 6 mm. in length. Midvein stout, prominent, curved. Secondaries 8 or 9 subparallel pairs diverging from the midvein in the marginal teeth. The secondaries, especially in one of the specimens figured, are somewhat more curved than in the leaves of the existing Fagus. |
