Tricolpites retielegans was named by Freile (1972) [Measurement of others specimens: (longitudinal Equatorial diameter) Length 21(26)28 µ; (transversal equatorial diameter) 15(18)20 µ.
Others samples examinated: Preparación # 735, coord. 36.8-110.9; 25.5-97.3. prep. # 736; 39.3-105.prep. # 738, coord. 31.2-116.5.
]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Holotype: P.m L. P. # 734, coord. 39-101.8., a microspore. Its type locality is Pozo T-137, nivel 720.50-721.75 m., which is in a Maastrichtian/Eocene terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Cerro Dorotea Formation of Argentina.
