Taxonomy
Orthoperites was named by Jacquelin du Val (1857). It is extant. Its type is Orthoperus.

It was reranked as the subfamily Orthoperinae by Kirejtshuk and Kurochkin (2019); it was reranked as the tribe Orthoperini by Bouchard et al. (2011), Li et al. (2022).

It was assigned to Corylophidae by Kirejtshuk and Kurochkin (2019); and to Corylophinae by Bouchard et al. (2011), Li et al. (2022).
