Taxonomy
Laurophyllum vulcanicola was named by Bannister et al. (2012). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Foulden maar (I43/f8503), which is in an Aquitanian crater lake diatomite in the Foulden Hills Diatomite Formation of New Zealand.
