Taxonomy
Ptinus priminidi was named by Spilman (1976). Its type specimen is USNM 73755, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tunnel Ridge midden 5A, Whipple Mountains, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in California.
