H. Xing et al. 2014 | Hadrosaurines possessing the following autapomorphies: thick, arcuate lateral ridge of the nasal occupying the posterodorsal corner of the circumnarial fossa and gradually curving posteroventrally, which is located anterior to the orbit; strongly invaginated posterodorsal region of the circumnarial fossa moderately expanded dorsoventrally; and exoccipital with the two foramina for the vagus nerve and the anterior branch of the hypoglossal nerve separated by a robust, nearly vertical septum. This clade differs from all other hadrosaurines in that the prepubic blade of the pubis is significantly shorter than the prepubic neck of the bone, and in that the frontal contributes greatly to the dorsal margin of the orbit; differs from Brachylophosaurini in having a symmetrical, U-shaped lateroventral margin of the iliac supraacetabular process whose anteroposterior length is less than 55% the maximum length of the central plate of the ilium, a robust, hooked posterior ramus of the jugal which curves and tapers dorsally, and a longer precotyloid process of the squamosal relative to the quadrate cotylus of the element; differs from Saurolophini in possessing an anteroposteriorly shallow, broadly arcuate quadratojugal notch whose ventral margin is directed anteroventrally, and in lacking a rod-shaped solid supracranial crest formed mainly by the paired nasals and an extremely constricted dorsoventrally external naris; also differs from Kritosaurini in bearing a gently angled laterodorsal margin of the anteroventral process of the maxilla relative to the ventral border of the anterior third of the bone and an anteroposteriorly constricted, subtriangular infratemporal fenestra. |
